Daniel Smith Permanent Violet has a soft handling ability and even dispersion of lightfast, semi-transparent pigment. The rich, medium to high staining pigment shows a strong, reddish-violet color. Use Permanent Violet in velvety purple washes of subjects such as pansies and other flowers.

Swatch info: Starting with 10 parts water to 1 part paint (by weight) in the palette, the chemist painted the top half of the swatch uniformly with a round brush to show the paint’s color and characteristics. For the bottom half, a  0.75-inch flat brush was dipped into the paint well just once, then the color was applied in stripes until the brush was dry, which shows the color’s tone and behavior through a wash.
